Blitzkrieg Bop; Come Together; Smells Like Teen Spirit; London Calling; Welcome To The Jungle; More Than a Feeling; We Will Rock You; Five Years; Personality Crisis; Seven Nation Army; Start Me Up; 21st Century Schizoid Man; Enter Sandman; Badlands; Wouldn't It Be Nice; Gimme Shelter; Black Dog; What's Going On; Baba O'Riley; and Purple Haze cut the mustard for me as well.

Here’s my take on Yoko’s music: the first disc of the Ono Box (set) with her well known guttural screeching is the single worst disc ever manufactured. After that everything thing else ranges from pretty good to very good, occasionally excellent.

‘Brilliant Rant’. Even to the point of making some much needed fun of yourself. ‘All that vinyl’, in that sense I am glad and taking advantage of ‘Living in the digital age’.

As a lover of big band music the live recordings are 'pure' due to financial limitations and i would say the musicianship is of higher quality as a general observation. The massive tinkering of, for example, Kiss Alive, Thin Lizzy's 'Live and Dangerous' and UFO's 'Strangers In The Night' has put me off live rock albums. However there are notable exceptions such al Live At The Fillmore by The Allman Brothers Band.

Regarding vinyl prices i was going to purchase Steely Dan's The Royal Scam on UHQR. The cheapest i can find is £178 and is equivalent to approx $225. However in the US copies will retail at $150. Another example of rip-off Britain.

The great majority of vinyl records sold today are digital not analogue, and for this reason as well as the astronomical price i no longer buy them. I would much rather see proper analogue reissues of original analogue lps than this "remastered " travesty. 5:09

I wouldn’t declare that every reviewer/UA-camr who received a free pre-release by a recording company was being compromised and seduced into positive reviews. I certainly wouldn’t say that about you. However one must admit that it is going to be difficult to convince most people that a profit thirsty corporation gives away free product with no financial benefit in mind. And the seduction to give positive response might very well be quite unconscious. Just saying that it is common practice (and it certainly is in many entertainment media fields such as films and music) isn’t exactly a striking counter argument - no one doubts it is common practice. But why is it common practice. Because the corporations believe it is bound to produce positive results. Otherwise they wouldn’t do it. I think - just from sheer optics and a desire to minimize any scent of collusion - the minimal ethical standard of a reviewer should be to resist receiving free product that they are being offered. Just my opinion.

I'm always so glad that Sean and Julian get along so well. I was never a big Yoko-basher, but lately it seems I keep happening upon a lot of negative stories about her (John's sister, Julia's book, 'Imagine This'; stories from Pete Shotten, from May Pang). She certainly had a controlling side. I must admit, I like her less these days.

Hey John, you’ll be shocked to hear that I actually purchased “One Hand Clapping” and, believe it or not, I quite like it. It’s not a world beater for sure but I find it to be a fun listen overall. Maybe old age is finally getting to me. Could it be it’s time to dig out “London Town” from my attic?!?!?!? Terrific video as always, my friend.

I think I'm kind of done at almost 70 years old. I have avoided LPs pretty much for awhile just because of the bulk and weight and place to put them. My last hurrah seriously was the last 4 years or so completing my collection of U.S. released Apple 45 rpm singles. I had about half of them until 2020 and now I have them all. Recently I picked up the first U.S. Capitol 4 song EP by the Beatles. I have the second one from 1965 but am missing the cardboard sleeve. I'm still kind of half heartedly looking for that cover plus maybe the one Vee Jay 4 song EP from 1964. Other than that I'm done. Really, at my age I should be starting a big sell off. I could actually make a little money helping others with their collections!

Enjoyed your video John . I don’t think you were ranting or negative at all . Just right of reply 😊👍 I would say that although I agree that vinyl is overpriced , you can still buy brand new vinyl for around £12 upwards if you look around . I played an instore gig in Fopp Edinburgh last Saturday and couldn’t see a new album cheaper than £25 . I’d avoid Fopp like the plague . They are owned by the same company as HMV and are both vastly overpriced . I stick to local independent stores . Living in central Scotland , I’m lucky to have a few nearby . Good job with the channel John 👍

I was corresponding with my brother and telling him what an improvement you thought the new mix of Mind Games is. He said in his view the problem with remixes becomes, "What exactly IS Mind Games?" Is it the original release? Is iit the newer release? What is the actual piece of work called Mind Games?

i think stop making sense by talking heads is THE quintessential live album. every single track performed surpasses the original and it’s not even close (in my opinion at least). perfect from front to back, and it goes even better with the concert film. 10/10.

Man, folks can be pretty rough. Well, for what it's worth I appreciate your point of view on Beatles material. You've brought a lot of forgotten gems out into the light. Just last week I was listening to Rotogravure, an album I never really connected with when it came out, and yet it has first rate contributions from all 4 Beatles, all thanks to you. Thanks for all the thought and work you put into these posts. I always have to hit "pause" and listen to at least one song you've mentioned every time I watch your channel, without fail.

i enjoy your videos and it's sane to believe that if you have a wall not filled with music memorabilia that you shouldn't buy 6,000 vinyl records to fill it. it's easy to write something deliberately favorable about "mind games" because lennon didn't have to make the record and the talk of him "coming back to the record buying public with his tail between his legs" is utterly obnoxious. there's 1 john lennon. there's seemingly 4.8 million critics judging the guy for not coming with a masterpiece that they have to cough up $15 or $350 to buy what he produced half a century ago. sorry i don't know what pounds and quid are!

I agree with everything you said John. Mind games is actually my favorite John Lennon album but I don’t need a box set. I’m either going to get the remix vinyl or Cd. I’m spending my money on the synchronicity box set by the police because I’m more of a police fan and I would listen the box set way more. I never understood the Yoko backlash over the years. I love Yoko.

Always nice to hear your opinion! When I was 14 I started collecting Beatles/solo/Apple artists records etc. Then cd's came, collecting all over again, I kept the vinyl! And now again vinyl, too expensive, I don't! Happy with the cd's now and the nice boxsets coming out! But I also like all the Yoko stuff! She's great, Even when I was 14, I liked her music! I've seen her twice in Den Haag and Amsterdam! And next month we're going to London Tate Modern for Yoko! Open up your mind and give it a try! You won't regret!

Just watched your video, and I must say the person who is having ago at you, knows ,, nothing ,first, not all Beatles UA-cam channels have had a free copy from Sean Lennon, I'm based in the UK and have around 13.500 subscribers, , also if the Lennon estate wants to promote new releases by sending them to Beatles UA-cam channels what is wrong with that, like you said, it's nothing new, I will say now I didn't get a free copy Lol😊, take no notice of these troll's, great video by the way, cheers, Dave 😊😊

Thank you for revisiting RAM, John! RAM has always been at or near the top of favorite Beatles solo albums list. I turned 16 years old just as RAM was being released in mid-May 1971 and bought it immediately. Prior to RAM's being commercially released, WABC-AM (770) in New York City played the album in full (I assume it was the USA-only MONO mix) - that was the first time I ever heard the album. My friends and I loved RAM, and, I played it many, many times during the summer of 1971. [Carole King's TAPESTRY and Rod's EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY were also on my turntable a lot during Summer 1971] I like all songs on RAM, to varying degrees; I cannot say that I dislike any. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree with your assessment of "The Back Seat Of My Car", which I feel / believe is a masterpiece. (including George Martin's un-credited orchestration) However, I've always felt that its coda was unnecessary and that the final note (pre-coda) would have more effectively ended the album. But, then again, who am *I* to second guess Paul McCartney, eh?! Paul always envisioned the coda as the conclusion of that song, so, it is what it is. I'd have to say that RAM is my most-listened to Paul album (historically and currently), followed by BAND ON THE RUN, VENUS AND MARS, TUG OF WAR, FLOWERS IN THE DIRT, and, FLAMING PIE. I also bought the WILD LIFE album when it was initially released and loved it. WILD LIFE isn't "heavy" and wasn't groundbreaking, but, it's quite enjoyable to listen to. Cheers! Mike

I always enjoy your reviews solo and with Matt. You don't seem to be the type of person who is going to be compromised by a free box set. Sean does a great job on these releases. He treat his fathers legacy with respect unlike Elvis' estate in my opinion. John told George Martin in 1979 he wanted to rerecord all the Beatle songs, especially Strawberry Fields! So it seems to me John would love these reissues.
